If you really want to stop smoking, you can start by doing anything that you can think just to put your mind in another place, away from the destructive thoughts. Thankfully the withdrawal symptoms of nicotine aren’t as violent as a few others that are known. Keep that up long enough and you might not want another cigarette in your life.
Every time I watch a movie in which I see someone drag on a stick of cigarette, I feel like going out and getting one myself. But since I told myself I was never going back to that habit, I have been changing the channel. I think we all could use a little help like that. Anything to not think about it.
Whatever you find to do, make sure it is not reading a book. I know some of them can be very engrossing, but I don’t think that they can keep your mind off of smoking for long enough. Hey, just as you would do to break a drinking habit, you could enroll in rehab to break a smoking habit too. In there, they would keep you from anything that might remind you of what you are missing, and they would also make you sit through seance like group therapy sessions. Men, if that don’t break the habit, I don’t know what will.
