Virtual spaces are nice to have in a social setting, but to really make them pop, games require something a little more in depth than just mere aesthetics. This is one of the core reasons games like Restaurant Cityand Caf World became so addictive. You build elements not only to appreciate how they looked but to enjoy building a virtual business. However, not everyone wants to go into the restaurant industry. Some people, just want to party — well, time to get your wish, with a new Facebook title called Nightclub City.
Nightclub City‘s popularity seems to derive from Booyah’s stated goal of combining real life activities with the capabilities of a virtual world. Their MyTown app catapulted to success on mobile platforms by adding gameplay elements to a person’s basic desire to tell their friends where they’ve been. Nightclub City similarly takes full advantage of Facebook’s social networking structure, allowing Facebook users to do things they already want to do — share their favorite music and connect with popular musicians — in a game-like environment.
According to Booyah CEO Keith Lee, Nightclub City is just one step in making Booyah “the singular destination for real-world entertainment.” Stating his belief that mobile and social web platforms will converge in the near future, Lee says that he wants a strong presence on both: “With the success of MyTown for the iPhone and iPod touch, we wanted to expand our product offerings for the community of players across the most relevant platforms such as Facebook, leading us to create Nightclub City.”
